I got Sole

My feet are killing me. I've been running in my new Nimbuses since July, and my mileage can't warrant a new pair of runners already? So what's the deal? I paid a visit to my friendly neighbourhood Running Room last week and had a chat with the girl there about my sore feet. She suggested trying a pair of insoles as a cheaper alternative to getting a new pair of shoes so soon. I should have taken her advice right then!

Instead, I went and did my 13.1 run last weekend and had a reasonably good run. My lower back started to ache about 8 miles in, and my feet were quite sore by the end of it - but my rationale said "lady, you just ran 13 miles...of course your feet are gonna be sore"! So I didn't think much of it...at least I didn't until Monday morning when I took Charlie out for a walk. My left upper forefoot just ached while I was walking!? What did I do?

I still have the pain today. Maybe not quite as bad, but I still have a throbbing pain when I put weight on the left foot - especially after I've been on my butt for a while. I went for a short run yesterday morning and found running far more comfortable than walking. Odd. So I made it a priority to go back to the RR for a pair of these lovely Spenco insoles. I haven't run with them yet, but they felt pretty good in my shoes. I figure that I was wrong to ignore the throbbing I was feeling over the last few weeks, and because of that I may have landed myself with an injury. I'm not too worried yet - my hope is that it is a minor "flare-up" that might be alleviated with a little icing, and some extra cushioning in my shoes. I'll let you know.

I finished my 13.1 miles in 2:12 - not a bad improvement over the 2:22 in Nashville back in April.

I always soaked my feet in ice water after long runs, it took away all the aches and pains.

I hate how you're talking in the past tense...
