The greatest motivator...

The Disney Half Marathon was the run of my life! Erin and I finished in 2:15 (a 7 minute improvment on our last Half), and I felt great throughout the run! I don't know how it happened because I certainly didn't feel quite prepared for the run that day, but I don't remember a single moment of discomfort - I loved every minute, and could have kept going! It was great having Erin by my side to talk to, and laugh with, and support, and be supported by! It was also great knowing that my only 2 siblings were running that very same run, Glenn a little ahead (1:43 finish), and Tracy a little behind (3:25 finish). What Glenn thinks gave me the edge was an incredibly good sleep the night before the night before the run! That's not an error - 2 nights before the run I had the best sleep I had had in over a month...the two hour hot tub soak may have assisted in that, I'm not sure?!

The greatest motivator, even greater than family and friends (and those are tough to beat), is a really good run! I was so excited about getting back on track with my running after returning from Florida, but unfortunately I let the sub-zero temperatures take away much of my excitement! It must have been that my previous trips to Florida had been over the March break, and I had it in my head that I would be returning to spring-like weather?! Bad idea! Either way, I haven't forgotten how great that run felt, and this weekend I'm going to plug in my iPod and just go for re-creating that feeling minus the palm trees and humidity. My mind is set on the Spring, but I'm not going to sit around and wait for it!
